Frequently Asked Questions

Practical Questions

How much time does it take each day?

Plan on 20-30 minutes. You read the day's Scripture passage and reflection, answer the journaling prompt, and take one concrete action. It's not a massive time commitment, but it is a real commitment.

What format is it?

Battling Demons is a 104-page PDF ebook. You can read it on your phone, tablet, laptop, or print it out. The free 5-day excerpt is also a PDF.

What if I miss a day?

You pick it back up the next day. Missing one day doesn't erase the work you've done. The goal isn't perfection—it's consistency over 40 days. If you fall off, use the "Restart Protocol" and get back in the fight.

What if I don't finish all 40 days?

You'll still benefit from what you do complete. But honestly? The full 40 days matters. That's when the real transformation starts. Most men who quit do so because the warfare intensifies around day 20-25—that's exactly when you need to push through, not retreat.

Credibility & Fit

Do I have to be Orthodox Christian?

No, but this is written from an Orthodox Christian foundation. If you're Protestant, Catholic, or exploring faith, you'll still get tremendous value. The principles of spiritual warfare are consistent across Christian traditions. If you're not Christian at all, this won't be the right fit.

What if I'm new to faith or don't pray regularly?

This is actually written for you. You don't need advanced knowledge or an established prayer life. Each day builds on the previous day. The journaling prompts are designed to help you process and integrate what you're learning. If you can read and reflect, you can do this.

How is this different from other Christian books?

Most Christian books give you information. This gives you a system—40 days of structured spiritual combat with daily action steps. It's based on 2,000 years of Orthodox Christian teaching about how men actually fight spiritual warfare, not modern psychology or motivational theory. And it's written by a man who's lived it, not a theologian in an ivory tower.

Is this just another self-help book?

No. Self-help assumes you have the power to fix yourself if you just try hard enough. This assumes you're in a war you can't win alone—that you need God, community, and a proven system. If you're looking for "7 steps to your best self," this isn't it. If you're looking for weapons to fight for your soul, it is.

Value & Content

What's the difference between the free 5-day excerpt and the full practice?

The free 5-day excerpt gives you Phase 1 (The Briefing) and a taste of how the system works. It's enough to know if this is for you. The full 40-day practice includes all 5 phases: Briefing, Reconnaissance, Campaign (the 40 days), Armory (reference prayers and wisdom), and Debrief (what comes next).

What happens after 40 days?

You're not done fighting—the war continues. But you'll have built the foundation for a spiritual discipline that actually holds. The Debrief section gives you perspective on what you've accomplished and how to keep the momentum going. You can also repeat the same practice, dig into a different 40-day practice when it launches, or use the "Armory" section as ongoing reference material.

Can I do this more than once?

Absolutely. Many men work through the same 40-day practice multiple times and find new insights each round. Others complete it once and move to a different practice when it launches. Both approaches work.

Do I need other resources or books?

No. Everything you need is in the practice. We reference Scripture and Church fathers, but all the key passages and wisdom are included. You don't need to buy commentary, find a study Bible, or hire a spiritual director (though community and confession are recommended).

Real Life Questions

What if I fall off the wagon?

You restart. Missing one day doesn't mean you failed. Missing three days in a row? You still get back up. This practice teaches you how to bounce back from setbacks instead of giving up entirely. That skill alone is worth the investment.

Can I share this with others?

Yes. Share the free 5-day excerpt with men you think need it. Each purchase is for personal use, but you're encouraged to invite others to start their own practice. The more men fighting this battle, the better.

Do you offer refunds?

If you're not satisfied within 7 days, we'll refund you. But read the fine print: this is hard work. If you're looking for inspiration without action, you won't be satisfied. If you're ready to fight and the practice doesn't deliver what it promises, we'll make it right.

Is there a physical book version?

Not yet. For now, it's PDF only. A hardcover version is possible down the road, but the digital format lets us get this into your hands immediately and keep the price low.

More Questions

I have questions not answered here. How do I reach you?

Email: michael@fortydaypractice.com

I read every email. Response time is usually 24-48 hours.

Where are future 40-day practices coming from?

The 12-month outline exists—Fatherhood & Family Leadership, Kingship & Leadership, Wisdom & Discernment, and more. We'll release them as they're ready, not all at once. Sign up for the email list after you purchase to stay updated.

Is this guaranteed to fix my problems?

No. This is a tool, not a magic fix. You'll need to show up every day, answer honestly, and actually do the work. If you do, transformation happens. But it requires you to participate.

How do I know this actually works?

You don't, until you try it. Start with the free 5-day excerpt. If it resonates and you're ready to go deeper, buy the full practice. The proof isn't in my words—it's in the 40 days you invest and the man you become.
